School Board of Trustrees

The Board of Trustees (School Board) provides guidance and strategic planning, and develops school policy congruent with Valley View Adventist School’s Mission statement.  In partnership with the Central California Conference of Seventh-day Adventist (CCC), the Board works to hire and supervise staff, implement curriculum, oversee the facility, and implement School Board policy.

The School Board consists of voting Trustees who are nominated and elected by the local constituent Seventh-day Adventist churches. In addition, there are five ex-officio members of the Board: CCC Education Department Superintendent, Valley View Adventist School’s (VVAS) Principal, Valley View Childrens’ Center (VVCC) Director, local Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) church Pastors and the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) leader. Board meetings are held regularly each month, and are open to members of the Valley View community.

Three standing subcommittees make recommendations and report to the School Board. They are the Finance, Marketing, and Personnel Committees. Other ad-hoc committees may be created and dissolved as necessary. Members of these committees may consist of some members of the Board and/or members of the Valley View community.

Parent Teacher Organization Council

All parents with students enrolled at Valley View Adventist School automatically become members of the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO). The School Board nominates and elects the leader of the PTO who is also an ex-officio member of the School Board of Trustees. Monthly meetings are held to discuss and plan upcoming events and address parent questions and concerns.

The PTO enriches the school by working with the faculty and staff to provide school-wide events such as celebrations, curriculum support, and fundraisers. PTO action also supports the day-to-day educational experiences of the students. Parent and family involvement adds to their children’s feelings of belonging. It also allows parents to get to know the other students and families, building connection and a sense of community.
